Sedum burrito is a charming trailing succulent loved for its plump, bead-like leaves that resemble clusters of tiny green pearls. Soft blue-green in colour and adorably chunky, this plant cascades beautifully from shelves and hanging pots. Easy-going and drought-tolerant, it’s a firm favourite among succulent lovers for its playful, textural look.

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Bright, indirect light to several hours of gentle direct sun. Too little light causes stretching.
  • Ideal Room: Sunny kitchens, living rooms, conservatories, or any bright shelf or hanging display
  • Feeding: Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted cactus/succulent fertiliser.
  • Humidity: Prefers low humidity; thrives in dry indoor air.
  • Ideal Temperature: 18–27°C; protect from frost and cold drafts.
  • Watering: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Water sparingly in winter. Avoid splashing water on leaves to prevent rot.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Generally considered non-toxic (genus level), but ingestion may cause mild stomach upset.
  • Soil Type: Very fast-draining succulent or cactus mix with extra pumice or perlite
  • Propagation: Extremely easy—propagate from fallen leaves or stem segments; leaves root readily in dry soil
  • Eventual Height and Spread: Trails 30–90 cm depending on age; spreads into dense, pendant clusters
  • Growth Rate: Moderate; speeds up in warm, bright, dry conditions
  • Pests and Treatment: Susceptible to mealybugs and fungus gnats in overwatered soil; treat with neem oil or succulent-safe insecticides
  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years; handle gently—leaves detach easily
  • Pruning: Light trimming to manage length; use cuttings for propagation
  • Air Purification: Mild; valued mainly for its unique, cascading form
  • Folklore: Often seen as a symbol of contentment and relaxation due to its soft, trailing, “lazy” form and carefree nature
