Meet 'Machucae'—the "baby toes" of the succulent world. With her plump, bean-like leaves coated in a thick, dusty-purple wax (farina), she looks like a collection of frosted pastel gems. She’s a soft, sculptural beauty that brings a gentle, "macho" pop to any sunny shelf!

  • The Formal Name: Pachyphytum machucae
  • The Nickname: Baby Toes or Machucae Succulent
  • Roots: Native to the rocky slopes of Michoacán, Mexico.
  • Natural Vibe: Tucked into rocky crevices in search of bright, indirect sun.

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Sunlight: She loves bright, indirect light. A little morning sun will intensify her purple-pink farina.
  • Best Room: A bright living room or a sunny bedroom windowsill.
  • Snacks: A weak liquid succulent fertiliser once every 6 weeks in spring and summer.
  • Tropical Feels: Prefers dry air. Avoid placing her in humid rooms like bathrooms.
  • Cosy Factor: Happy between 15–27°C. Protect her from frost at all costs!
  • Thirst: Very low! Let her soil dry out 100% before watering deeply. Her leaves are very succulent and store lots of water.
  • Safety First: Non-toxic – perfectly safe for curious cats, dogs, and children.
  • The Bedding: A gritty, fast-draining cactus and succulent mix is mandatory.
  • Family Tree: Very easy to propagate from individual leaf cuttings—just lay them on top of the soil!
  • Space Needs: Stays small and low, forming a bushy clump up to 10–15 cm tall.
  • Speed: A slow grower that focuses on producing thick, colorful leaves.
  • Uninvited Guests: Watch for mealybugs. Be careful not to touch her leaves, as the wax coating (farina) doesn't grow back!
  • Moving Day: She has delicate roots; repot only every 2–3 years.
  • Haircut: No pruning needed! Simply enjoy her natural, gem-like clusters.
  • Fresh Air: A hardy air purifier that brings a soft, pastel glow to your space.
  • Plant Lore: Named after the Mexican botanist Jaime Machuca, who discovered this unique species!
