Echeveria 'Hercules' is a captivating hybrid succulent that forms compact rosettes of densely packed, smooth, grey-green leaves. The leaf edges are adorned with subtle pink to purple margins and tips, creating a striking contrast. Mature rosettes typically reach up to 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter. This cultivar is a cross between Echeveria pulidonis and Echeveria elegans, developed in 2006 and patented in 2015.

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Gradually acclimate to direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
  • Ideal Room: Suitable for bright indoor spaces with ample natural light or outdoor patios with indirect sunlight.
  • Feeding: Apply a diluted, balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season to promote healthy growth.
  • Humidity: Prefers low to moderate humidity levels. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Ideal Temperature: Best kept between 60°F and 85°F (15°C to 29°C). Protect from frost and extreme cold temperatures.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly but infrequently, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Non-toxic to pets and children.
  • Soil Type: Requires well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix, to prevent water retention around the roots.
  • Propagation: Propagate by leaf cuttings or offsets. Allow cuttings to callous over before planting to reduce the risk of rot.
  • Eventual Height and Spread: Rosettes can grow up to 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.
  • Growth Rate: Moderate growth rate; may take several years to reach full size.
  • Pests and Treatment: Watch for common succulent pests like aphids and mealybugs. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1–2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Use a pot with drainage holes to prevent water accumulation.
  • Pruning: Remove dead or damaged leaves to maintain plant health and appearance.
  • Air Purification: Known to purify indoor air by removing toxins like formaldehyde.
  • Folklore: In some cultures, Echeveria is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to its owner.
