Anthurium ‘King of Spades’ × ‘Forgetii’ × ‘Goliath’ is a formidable triple-hybrid velvet Anthurium that blends extreme darkness and authority with refined form and monumental scale. King of Spades contributes near-black saturation and gravitas, Forgetii brings a clean, closed sinus and elegant symmetry, while Goliath amplifies size, thickness, and presence. The result is a heavy, architectural plant with dense velvet foliage, powerful venation, and a commanding, collector-grade silhouette.

  • Full Botanical Name: Anthurium ‘King of Spades’ × Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium ‘Goliath’ (hybrid)
  • Common Names: King of Spades Triple Hybrid Anthurium

  • Growing Conditions in Native Habitat: Parent species grow epiphytically or terrestrially in warm, humid tropical forests with filtered light and steady airflow

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to protect velvet texture and deep coloration.
  • Ideal Room: Plant rooms, greenhouse cabinets, warm interiors with stable humidity
  • Feeding: Diluted balanced aroid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during active growth
  • Humidity: High humidity (65–85%) recommended to support leaf size, thickness, and finish
  • Ideal Temperature: 20–27°C; avoid temperatures below 16°C and cold drafts
  • Watering: Keep substrate lightly moist; allow the top 2–3 cm to dry slightly between waterings. Never allow waterlogging.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Toxic (genus level) — contains calcium oxalate crystals that may cause irritation if ingested
  • Soil Type: Very chunky, well-aerated aroid mix with bark, perlite, pumice, and sphagnum moss
  • Propagation: Stem division or node cuttings; slow and best performed on established plants
  • Eventual Height and Spread: 60–100 cm tall; 50–80 cm wide depending on maturity and conditions
  • Growth Rate: Slow to moderate; leaf mass and presence increase steadily with age
  • Pests and Treatment: Thrips and spider mites are the primary risks; maintain humidity and inspect foliage regularly
  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years once rootbound; avoid oversized containers
  • Pruning: Remove older or damaged leaves at the base to direct energy into new growth
  • Air Purification: Good; contributes positively to indoor air quality
  • Folklore: Triple-cross dark Anthurium hybrids symbolise dominance and legacy—representing scale, strength, and refined darkness at the pinnacle of collector cultivation
