Anthurium ‘Goliath’ × ‘Bloodqueen’ is a commanding velvet-leaf hybrid that merges monumental scale and thickness with dark, dramatic pigmentation. Goliath contributes sheer size, substance, and architectural weight, while Bloodqueen adds rich burgundy-to-near-black tones and intense saturation. The result is a powerful, collector-grade Anthurium with broad, muscular leaves, dense velvet texture, and striking venation—built for presence and longevity.

  • Full Botanical Name: Anthurium ‘Goliath’ × Anthurium ‘Bloodqueen’ (hybrid)
  • Common Names: Goliath Bloodqueen Hybrid Anthurium
  • Country and/or Region of Origin: Hybrid; parent genetics derived from Central and South American Anthurium species
  • Growing Conditions in Native Habitat: Parent species grow epiphytically or terrestrially in warm, humid tropical forests with bright filtered light and consistent airflow

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to preserve velvet texture and deep coloration.
  • Ideal Room: Plant rooms, greenhouse cabinets, warm interiors with stable humidity
  • Feeding: Diluted balanced aroid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during active growth
  • Humidity: High humidity (65–85%) recommended to support leaf size, thickness, and colour depth
  • Ideal Temperature: 20–27°C; protect from temperatures below 16°C and cold drafts
  • Watering: Keep substrate lightly moist; allow the top 2–3 cm to dry slightly between waterings. Never allow waterlogging.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Toxic (genus level) — contains calcium oxalate crystals that may cause irritation if ingested
  • Soil Type: Very chunky, well-aerated aroid mix with bark, perlite, pumice, and sphagnum moss
  • Propagation: Stem division or node cuttings; slow and best performed on established plants
  • Eventual Height and Spread: 60–100 cm tall; 50–80 cm wide depending on maturity and conditions
  • Growth Rate: Slow to moderate; develops heavier, more imposing leaves with age
  • Pests and Treatment: Thrips and spider mites are the primary risks; maintain humidity and inspect foliage regularly
  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years once rootbound; avoid oversized containers
  • Pruning: Remove older or damaged leaves at the base to direct energy into new growth
  • Air Purification: Good; contributes positively to indoor air quality
  • Folklore: Dark, large-format Anthurium hybrids symbolise power and endurance—representing dominance, resilience, and cultivated strength within elite plant collections
