  • Full Botanical Name: Anthurium (DocBlock hybrid) Zara® ‘3’ × Zara® ‘33’
  • Common Names: DocBlock Zara Hybrid Anthurium
  • Country and/or Region of Origin: Hybrid; Zara® line derived from Central American Anthurium genetics
  • Growing Conditions in Native Habitat: Parent species originate from warm, humid tropical forests, growing epiphytically or terrestrially with filtered light and constant airflow

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to maintain velvet texture and prevent leaf burn.
  • Ideal Room: Plant rooms, greenhouse cabinets, warm interiors with stable humidity
  • Feeding: Diluted balanced aroid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during active growth
  • Humidity: High humidity (65–85%) recommended for optimal leaf expansion and surface finish
  • Ideal Temperature: 20–27°C; avoid temperatures below 16°C
  • Watering: Keep substrate lightly moist; allow the top 2–3 cm to dry slightly between waterings. Never allow waterlogging.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Toxic (genus level) — contains calcium oxalate crystals that may cause irritation if ingested
  • Soil Type: Very chunky, well-aerated aroid mix with bark, perlite, pumice, and sphagnum moss
  • Propagation: Stem division or node cuttings; slow and best done on established plants
  • Eventual Height and Spread: 50–80 cm tall; 45–65 cm wide depending on maturity and conditions
  • Growth Rate: Slow to moderate; leaf size and presence increase steadily with age
  • Pests and Treatment: Thrips and spider mites are the main concerns; maintain humidity and inspect foliage regularly
  • Repotting: Every 1–2 years once rootbound; avoid oversized pots
  • Pruning: Remove older or damaged leaves at the base to direct energy into new growth
  • Air Purification: Good; contributes positively to indoor air quality
  • Folklore: Zara® hybrids are associated with strength and dominance, symbolising bold presence and curated excellence within elite Anthurium collections
