Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light conditions, insufficient light may result in slower growth and less vibrant spathes. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate leaves and flowers.
  • Ideal Room: Ideal for living rooms, offices, or bright indoor spaces with indirect light. It thrives in high humidity, making it perfect for bathrooms or kitchens with good lighting.
  • Feeding: Fertilize every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring to summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer to promote healthy growth and vibrant blooms. Reduce feeding during the fall and winter months.
  • Humidity: Prefers high humidity. To thrive, mist the leaves regularly, place the plant on a humidity tray, or use a humidifier. This hybrid enjoys environments with naturally high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens.
  • Ideal Temperature: Best kept between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C). It should be protected from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as it is sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
  • Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Ensure the soil drains well, as overwatering can lead to root rot. Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings, but avoid letting the plant sit in water.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Toxic to pets and children if ingested. Keep out of reach of animals and young children to prevent accidental consumption, which can cause irritation or digestive upset.
  • Soil Type: Use a well-draining, organic potting mix designed for tropical plants or aroids. Adding perlite, orchid bark, or coconut coir will help ensure proper drainage and prevent water retention around the roots.
  • Propagation: Propagate by stem cuttings. Take a healthy cutting with at least one node and place it in water or well-draining soil to root. Once roots have formed, transplant the cutting into a new pot.
  • Eventual Height and Spread: Typically grows up to 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) tall with a spread of 1-2 feet (30-60 cm), making it a manageable size for indoor spaces, plant displays, or as a statement plant in a container.
  • Growth Rate: Moderate-growing. With proper care, it will grow steadily during the growing season, producing new leaves and flowers, but its growth rate is slower compared to other Anthuriums.
  • Pests and Treatment: Generally resistant to pests, but may occasionally attract mealybugs, aphids, or spider mites. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil to prevent damage and keep the plant healthy.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one to allow for healthy root growth, and ensure it has drainage holes to prevent water retention.
  • Pruning: Prune dead or yellowing leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance. Trim spent flowers to encourage new blooms and promote a neat, tidy growth habit.
  • Air Purification: Like other Anthurium varieties, this hybrid helps purify the air by removing toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene, improving indoor air quality.
  • Folklore: Anthuriums are often regarded as symbols of beauty, prosperity, and good fortune. In some cultures, they are believed to bring positive energy and good luck to the home, making them a popular choice for feng shui and indoor decorations.
