  • Growing Conditions in Native Habitat: Grows as an epiphyte in tropical rainforests, receiving dappled sunlight and high humidity from its native environment

Care Guide

  • Care Guide:
  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. This hybrid thrives in filtered or dappled sunlight, making it ideal for bright indoor spaces.
  • Ideal Room: Ideal for living rooms, offices, or conservatories where it can receive plenty of indirect light and benefit from high humidity. It can also be grown as a statement plant in larger containers.
  • Feeding: Fertilize once a month during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce feeding in the fall and winter when the plant is in its dormant phase.
  • Humidity: Prefers high humidity. Regular misting, placing it on a humidity tray, or positioning it in a humid room such as a bathroom or kitchen will help maintain optimal conditions.
  • Ideal Temperature: Best kept between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C). Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C), as it is sensitive to cold conditions and frost.
  • Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Be sure to use well-draining soil, as overwatering can lead to root rot. During the winter months, reduce watering as the plant goes dormant.
  • Pet/Child Safe: Toxic to pets and children if ingested. Keep out of reach of animals and young children to prevent accidental ingestion, which can cause digestive upset or irritation.
  • Soil Type: Use a well-draining, organic-rich potting mix. A mix formulated for aroids or tropical plants will provide the necessary moisture retention and drainage for healthy root growth.
  • Propagation: Propagate by stem cuttings. Take a healthy cutting with at least one node and a few leaves, allow it to callous for a few days, and then plant it in well-draining soil. Keep the cutting warm and humid until roots develop.
  • Eventual Height and Spread: Typically grows up to 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) tall, with a spread of 1-2 feet (30-60 cm). It makes an excellent addition to medium to large indoor spaces where it can thrive and add a touch of elegance.
  • Growth Rate: Moderate-growing, producing new leaves and spathes over time. This hybrid thrives when provided with optimal care, particularly in terms of light, humidity, and watering.
  • Pests and Treatment: Prone to pests like aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil to keep the plant healthy and prevent damage.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years or when the plant becomes root-bound. Choose a slightly larger pot with good drainage to allow for healthy root growth and prevent water retention.
  • Pruning: Prune dead or yellowing leaves regularly to maintain the plant’s appearance and promote new growth. Pruning helps maintain the plant’s shape and encourages denser foliage.
  • Air Purification: Like many tropical plants, this Anthurium hybrid helps purify the air by removing toxins such as formaldehyde and benzene, creating a healthier and fresher indoor environment.
  • Folklore: Anthurium plants are often associated with love, beauty, and protection in various cultures. In some regions, they are believed to bring good fortune, making them a popular choice for feng shui and as symbolic gifts for special occasions.
